It’s very rewarding to adopt a gorilla! A gorilla that really needs your support. By adopting you will give this gorilla and other gorillas a chance at a real future. In our adoption program there are four Grauer’s gorillas (eastern lowland gorilla) to choose from. They are looked after in the Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education (GRACE) Center in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. In this sanctuary there are 14 Grauer’s gorillas in total.
Each gorilla that arrives at GRACE has a heart-breaking story to tell. Meet Shamavu, as a baby he was kept inside a small backpack for a month by three poachers, while they searched for someone to buy him. Fortunately, the poachers have been arrested and Shamavu is now in safe in the hands of GRACE. Please watch the video of his rescue:
With your help, we can fight this illegal trade and give the orphaned gorillas a future.
Meet the gorillas in the adoption program:
You can adopt a gorilla for € 5 monthly or € 60 annually. € 50 of your contribution goes directly to GRACE for the care of the Grauer’s gorillas and general support of the sanctuary. All gorillas will benefit from your support, not only your adopted gorilla. € 10 of your contribution is for the activities of the Dutch Gorilla Foundation. We use the contribution to cover for the administrative costs of the adoption and for the implementation of our primate education program in the Netherlands.
You will receive an email with the adoption certificate and more information about the adopted gorilla and the Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education (GRACE) Center. And of course, you will receive updates about the adopted gorilla! Twice a year you will receive especially selected updates and photos. What did your gorilla do in the past months for example or were there any health issues?
We will also sign you up for our GorillaPost. This is our e-newsletter (only available in Dutch) which will inform you of our activities; provide you with regular project updates and includes the latest gorilla news.

Would you like to support the gorillas as a company or school? You can! We also offer the possibility of adopting a gorilla group, this way you adopt all four gorillas in our adoption program. You can choose between a bronze (€ 250 per year), silver (€ 500 per year) or gold adoption (€ 1,000 per year). In return we will send you the group adoption package. Furthermore, you will receive a special plaque which you can display in the entrance hall or lunch room.
80% of your contribution goes directly to GRACE for the care of the Grauer’s gorillas. 20% of your contribution is for the activities of the Dutch Gorilla Foundation. We use the 20% to cover for the administrative costs of the group adoption, the implementation of our primate education program in the Netherlands and to support the other gorilla protection programs.
